| LAN Party of Goodness November 10th
For the past three years I have been hosting a LAN party at my home.
I recently made more room for attendees so I can once again make an open invite for new players. For this party we are holding a special Omegathon event. We are looking for teams of two to compete in multiple games in a double elimination tournament for a cash prize.
We are accepted a maximum of 24 gamer RSVPs and 10 non gaming guests RSVPs.

LAN POG FAQ
When is it?
The party starts Saturday November 10th at 3PM. It officially ends Sunday at 6PM.
What goes on at these parties?
There is plenty of good gaming and conversation to be had. We also have a video room with console games to get away from the PC, or just hang out on the couch. There is also alcohol. The rule is that if you intend to drink some, bring some of your own to share as well. That way we have a large variety of drinks to choose from.
Where is it
It is in my home near 122nd and Foster. I post the full address to the mailing list a week before the event.
What is the Cost?
To simply attend is free. We do a pizza run around 7PM and if you wish to share in its cheesy goodness please bring $5 to add to the pizza pool. Entrance to the Omegathon is $5 each, and goes towards the prize pool. We also appreciate any donation to the OFMPBIGTS (Oh smurf, My Power Bill Is Going To Spike) fund because nearly maxing out 75 amps for over twenty-four hours is not cheap.
Is file sharing allowed?
Yes, but I don’t give any tech support on how to go about doing that. We try to get everything people want to share onto a central file server (located on the network backbone).
What is this Omegathon?
The Omegathon is a double elimination tournament for eight teams of two spanned across multiple PC and console games. Each round of the tournament is a different game. The tournament will take place starting at 8 PM and go to around midnight.
The game list below is tentative, send suggestions on games. I am trying to get a mix of different types. I will finalize the list November 2nd.
Game 1: Warcraft 3
Game 2: Unreal Tournament 3 (2vs2 Team Death Match)
Game 3: Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo (team members take turns on rounds)
Game 4: Super Bomber Man 2 (Team match on default map)
Game 5: F-Zero GX (best team score after the first three tracks)
Game 6: The Mystery Game (some random 4 player game known only to me)
The winning team splits the prize pool from the other attendees.
To join send me an email that you would like to play in the omegathon. If you have a team member in mind that is also coming tell me who, and the name of your team.
Any house rules I should be aware of?
1. Don’t do anything that would require the use of the home owners insurance (the catch all rule).
2. No sore losers, take your bitching and excuses outside.
3. While some smurf talk is to be expected, try not to be a complete asshole.
4. Remember, this is my house, I reserve the right to kick people out. To date I have never had to do that.
5. Eight teen and over only.
6. No one under 21 may have any alcohol unless for some reason they have a parent present who says it is cool (I think this law is silly, but hey, I have to follow it because being arrested sucks). |
